SO! You've beaten everything in the game. Challenged all the challenges, gotten every item and weapon. Now it's time for the true test of your skills. Can you do it? Can you defeat him? He, who is the namesake of our work? Veni veni venias, ne me mori facias, SEPHIROTH!

Description: LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!! This is the greatest challenge in the game, for one really really good reason. SIN HARVEST. Sephiroth is fast, he's got a long LONG sword, he can teleport, and he's got the most attacks in the game. He also taunts you. It's a little annoying. But he's just as badass as usual, provided you can beat him. This is a single battle, which means it relies on your skills a long.

Location: You can fight Sephiroth after you've beaten Hades Cup once. Simple huh? It is the Platinum match.

Prepare: Okay, I suggest you to be on level 100, especially if you've never fought him before. You HAVE to equip: Strike Raid and MP Rage. I suggest accessories that negate dark attacks. Also, fill up your item slots with elixers. You might end up using them all. If you can, equip the Ultima Keyblade, this isn't a walk in the park. Be sure to have Curaga and Aeroga, and have this on shortcut keys. Equiping Counterattack will help too. Dodge Roll is a must.

Strategy: There are three stages to this fight. We'll go through them by color.

Purple - Pink: This phase is relatively easy. Just try to hit him. ALWAYS USE AERO. If you start losing MP, get hit by Sephiroth and cure yourself a lot. You can't summon, so you have to magic yourself. It will take a while for the damage to show on the scale. You have to deal a lot of damage before the bar even starts to move. There are a couple of attacks he'll use during this. First is the fire thing, he'll stop moving and pillars of fire will go up. this doesn't do a lot of damage AND he stops during it, it is worth it to hit him then. A better idea would to use Strike Raid and combo it to do ultimate damage, that will take the most damage off of him. When he is running around, he'll hit you and then disappear, usually right behind you. Don't try to combo, do one short attack, he'll turn around and hit you from behind, you can counter it if you don't combo. Interrupt his attack and you can counter. Be sure to cure before you hear the sirens, always keep about a third of your life bar full, Sephiroth can do some crazy combos.

ORANGE - Yellow: This is the hardest part, two new attacks will appear. One of them is similar to Captain Hook's crazy slash attack, except it's longer and more deadly. Luckily, you can dodge roll around most of it AND you can cure during it. So that should be ok. The REAL toughy is Sin Harvest which will get it's own section:

SIN HARVEST: Do you remember Final Fantasy 6? (3 in the US) At the last battle with Kefka, he had this nifty spell called Fallen Angel. This spell basically wiped your party out to 1 HP. However, back then, you had turn base, so you could save yourself. Here, you don't, AND you got fast ass Sephiroth. Sin Harvest is a version of Fallen Angel. It takes you down to 1 HP AND 0 MP. Yep, no chance for recovery. There are two ways to survive it, one, to your advantage, one to not. Both better than dying. You can't run from Sin Harvest, it tracks you. You can, however, interrupt the spell. During the second phase, Sephiroth spends a lot of his time running around in a circle and warping behind you and slashing at you. Around a third of that time, he'll warp out and cast Sin Harvest. He'll say it too (though, people debate about this). What you need to do is lock onto him after every warp, it's not too hard, as it's a rather loud Poof! When he comes out of the warp, target him so you can see him too. As soon as he starts to cast Sin Harvest, you'll see a red flash on top of you, he'll say it too, YOU MUST USE STRIKE RAID. Throw the Keyblade at him and interrupt him. If you're good, do a combo. That should interrupt him, he'll then promptly do the fire thing and stand still for you. Then he will repeat. You should always try to stay in the middle of the arena, so that no matter what direction he does it from, you are still within Strike Raid range. Now, if you screwed the pooch and didn't interrupt him, stop strike raid, and use an elixer as fast as you can because as soon as he is out of Sin Harvest, Sephiroth will lash at you and you will be dead. If you are not good with Strike Raid, you can wait for the spell to finish and try to time the elixers right, however, this is intensely difficult, and you'll run out too soon.

Yellow - Green: Okay, you've survived stage two, now it's dark powers time. At this point, Sephiroth has been angered, and he will unleash hell. Okay, first there are dark balls shooting out of him. Just cast shield and ignore them, this is the best time to hit Sephiroth. However, he will be flashing in and out of the physical world, AND he will still cast Sin Harvest a third of the time. Don't get too distracted and hit by it. There is a moment of invincibility too, he will summon these rocks in layers and have them spin, smacking everything. Stay as far away from him as possible, perferable, hide in a corner, as the attack is cicular and you might be able to dodge it. After that, he'll go back to dark ball mode and you can smack him some more. As long as you have shields, can cure yourself, and can avoid being skewered due to Sin Harvest, you should be fine.

Reward: Major bragging rights. Well, not really, if you're a decent player, this shouldn't be too hard on normal mode at least. However, the EXP points are great! It's really the challenge that is the draw of Sephiroth.

rahal's bragging rights: YA! I can beat him any day, any time, did it with the Kingdom Key, even (on the first try, on a whim, ask sai about it). It took a bit to get it down, but I can now pre-empt Sin Harvest, hence the title of this site. But any one of you can do it. I'm trying to convince Sai to give it a go. It's down to the formula.
