HOLLOW BASTION

Hollow Bastion has the most different types of Heartless, given that it is the world where Ansem is from and Maleficent's headquarters.

DARKBALL
Items Dropped: Hi-Potion (2%), Mega-Ether (50% in World of Chaos), Lucid Crystal (2%)

Place HP EXP
Before Rescue 60 45
After Rescue 105 90
End of the World 105 200

Defense: Darkballs can turn into purple clouds of energy and reappear elsewhere, like the Gargoyles from Halloween Town. When they reappear, it is with a burst of energy that can hurt. They also have an attack where they quickly hit in many directions using their balloon-like bodies. This attack can only be countered with a well-timed hit.

Strategy: The Darkballs become the mainstay Heartless of the worlds after you've sealed Hollow Bastion. They, like Shadows, are everywhere. Luckily they aren't particularly strong, but watch out for their attacks. They also float, so you'll have to jump and attack. Lead off with Aerial Sweep to get the best damage.

DEFENDER
Items Dropped: Elixir (2%), Bright Crystal (4%), Defender Shield (0.2%)

Place HP EXP
Before Rescue 240 180
After Rescue 600 300

Defense: Defenders hide behind their shields, so they are invulnerable from the front.

Strategy: Attack the Defenders from the side or behind, but at times they will whirl around with their shield and attack you. The dog face on the shield also bites, and breathes fire balls or an icy cone of frost. You can hit the fireball back for Tech Points, but try to avoid the frost cone, or hit it with Fire to counter it.

WYVERN
Items Dropped: Hi-Potion (4%), Elixir (1%), Power Crystal (4%)

Place HP EXP
Before Rescue 135 80
After Rescue 180 150

Defense: Wyverns usually fly up high in the air so that you can't reach them unless you have High Jump, or a long reaching Keyblade.

Strategy: Though you can jump and attack them if you can reach, it's better to wait for them to dive down and try to attack you first before going in for the kill. Use Gravity to bring them down if you're impatient, or any other offensive magic spell.

WIZARD
Items Dropped: Ether (4%), Shiny Crystal (4%), Wizard's Relic (0.2%)

Place HP EXP
Before Rescue 75 110
After Rescue 120 180

Defense: Wizards are immune to Fire, Blizzard and Thunder like the Green Requiems, absorbing your spell and shooting it back. They also will cast a Thunder shield around themselves that makes them invulnerable to physical attack. Wizards will also teleport.

Strategy: The easiest thing is to try and get in a full combo before they start casting the Thunder spell, but sometimes that's not possible. If they cast their shield, just roll away and work on another Heartless while you wait for it to stop. Mind, they'll follow you and try to get you within range of the Thunder that shoots down. If they disappear, sometimes they don't teleport far, or stay in the same place. There will be a second's worth of open time for you to attack right after they teleport.
